Summer Camp 2026

This June, Troop 128 sent Scouts from both the Girls’ Troop and the Boys’ Troop to Heritage Scout Reservation in Farmington, Pennsylvania. The Boys’ Troop stayed at Camp Liberty, where they cooked their own food. The Girls’ Troop stayed at Camp Freedom (GT) and enjoyed a dining hall. Both campsites had trading posts, which offered various things like clothes, candy, and other useful tools.

Upon arrival, Scouts filled their day exploring and getting familiar with the surroundings. However, throughout the week, several days were filled with rain, and it was almost never dry. Some days even brought thunderstorms. The heavy rain caused many tents to get drenched, which led to many campers sleeping in the dining hall. However, despite the challenging weather the Scouts had a wonderful time and didn’t let the rain bring them down.

Scouts earned many merit badges and advancements, as well as participated in many different fun activities such as the Polar Bear Plunge, archery, shooting, different kinds of boating, handicrafts, and more. Whenever Scouts had free time, they have the ability to go to open aquatics, which include many kinds of boating such as kayaks, canoes, sailboats, paddle boards, and more. Scouts also had the option to do archery, atlatl, rifle and shotgun shooting, rock climbing, fishing, swimming and more.

Arguably, the best part of camp was opening campfire and closing campfire. Both featured fun skits and songs, in which during the closing campfire, Troops could arrange and act out their own skits.

Overall, Camp Heritage was a memorable and rewarding experience for Troop 128. Although the rain and thunderstorms made the week challenging, Scouts stayed positive and made the most of their time at camp. From earning merit badges and trying new activities to enjoying campfires, skits, and spending time together, Scouts left with new skills and many memories.
