The October Leadership Campout combines position orientation with Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST). In addition to learning the responsibilities of their individual positions, Scouts develop leadership skills in communication, planning, teaching, teamwork, and servant leadership. The October Leadership Campout is intended for Scouts who:

• Hold a Troop leadership position for the October–March term;

• Expect or hope to serve in a Troop leadership position during the April–September term;

• Are age 14 or older and interested in developing their leadership skills, even if they do not currently hold a formal Troop position; or

• Are invited by the SPL or Scoutmaster because they are ready to take on greater leadership responsibility.
